Watering the Seed began as an idea many years ago, although it was only recently that I decided to formalise it into an online ministry.
The analogy of God’s Word as seed – being planted, watered, sown into good ground to ensure a full, abundant harvest – has always appealed to me. It has made it easier for me to apply the principles of God’s kingdom to my life and to see faith grow, even in difficult seasons.
Jesus used this analogy Himself in the parable of the sower.
Mark 4:12-20 (ASV)
13 And he saith unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how shall ye know all the parables?
14 The sower soweth the word.
15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; and when they have heard, straightway cometh Satan, and taketh away the word which hath been sown in them.
16 And these in like manner are they that are sown upon the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, straightway receive it with joy;
17 and they have no root in themselves, but endure for a while; then, when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway they stumble.
18 And others are they that are sown among the thorns; these are they that have heard the word,
19 and the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
20 And those are they that were sown upon the good ground; such as hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, thirtyfold, and sixtyfold, and a hundredfold.
Jesus also said that the flesh profits nothing, but the words that He speaks are spirit and they are life (John 6:63).
I really believe that if we diligently make the effort to ‘live in’ God’s living Word, it will fill us, heal us and set us free from bondage.
Because faith comes from hearing the Word.
But not only do we need to hear it, we need to live it.
James 1:22-25 (NKJV)
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;
24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
My aim here is to encourage as many people (especially women) as possible to learn the secrets of ABIDING in Him and living the abundant life that He promised that He came to bring.
